Batman: MBTI Of The Bat Family – CBR
Batman: MBTI Of The Bat Family While Batman remains a solitary crusader much of the time, he seems to have the strongest cast of supporting characters that work with him all the time. DC refers to this group of heroes as the Bat Family. What started as Robin has grown to four different Robin’s plus ancillary characters that have provided Batman with backup, and the occasional rude awakening that he has needed at times. The Myers-Briggs Personality Index classifies people into what drives them to become the hero or villain that they are today. Here is a look at the different members of the Batman Family and their MBTI traits to see what makes them tick. 10 BATMAN – INTJ The description of the INTJ MTBI character type is the Architect. That pretty much describes Batman perfectly. Some people might consider Batman to be INFJ. His entire career as a crimefighter was based on losing his parents, as well as losing those close to him, such as Robin. However, the fact is that Batman holds all these feelings inside. They might push him on, but they are not something he lets anyone see. Batman is analytical and an independent out-of-the-box thinker who questions everything. This is what makes Batman who he is. 9 NIGHTWING – ENFJ Next to Bruce Wayne, Dick Greyson is the man most suitable to put on the cape and cowl, and when he did become Batman, he was spectacular at it. Much like Bruce, Dick lost his parents as a child to a murderer, but he never let it destroy his life like Bruce did — mostly because he had Bruce there to guide him into his role as a hero. He is very different from Batman in two ways. He has a good sense of humor and is always there to help those he considers friends and family. While Batman is an architect, Nightwing is easily the protagonist, which is what the ENFJ is. 8 DAMIAN WAYNE – ESTJ Damian Wayne might be the most insolent, entitled and bratty version of Robin in existence. He is also a classic ESTJ, someone who wants everything to be as cut and dry and as black and white as possible. Damian doesn’t see much in shades of grey, and when he sees bad, he sets out to take it down without prejudice. The ESTJ is the Executive, and while Damian is no one’s boss, he sure thinks that he is. He at least thinks he is above everyone around him. He represents tradition and order and is strong-willed and stubborn when it comes to doing things his way. 7 TIM DRAKE – INTP Out of all the kids who served as Robin, it is Tim Drake, who is the closest to Batman when it comes to brilliance and detective skills. On some levels, Tim might even be a greater detective than Batman. On the MBTI chart, he checks in as an INTP. The INTP is the Logistician, and Drake fits that description, with his refusal to be normal…

Bruce Wayne – Batman Personality Type
Bruce Wayne – Batman Personality Type What is Bruce Wayne’s, aka Batman, personality type? Using the Big Five Personality Traits, Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and other psychology theories, including the Shadow and Persona archetypes based on the psychology of Carl Jung. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Bruce Wayne suffered a serious dramatic event when he was just a child, seeing his parents killed right in front of him. Witnessing this type of event can cause post-traumatic stress disorder, perhaps changing him for the rest of his life. He is cursed by visions and nightmares of what happened that night. This constant reminder of what happened might be in part what motivates him to fight crime. The activity of bringing criminals to justice may actually be a type of therapy which alleviates the symptoms of his post-traumatic stress disorder. Persona & Shadow Archetypes Bruce Wayne’s personality is the persona, his social mask, how he (in part) fits in and becomes somewhat normal. Batman: The Dark Knight is the shadow. He carries many of the relegated aspects of himself. These include his aggression, violent tendencies and perhaps his desire for revenge. While he does allow his aggressive and violent traits to be set free, they are controlled by a certain moral code. He only targets those who cause harm to others. Again, this could be a type of therapy resulting from his traumatic past, plus he may have a naturally high sense of morality. After the murder of his parents, his aggressive traits (shadow) likely grew in strength as Bruce Wayne got older, suppressing certain feelings for a long time. His alter ego (Batman) was created in order to full-fill those desires. If it wasn’t for the creation of Batman, his shadow may have grown out of control, perhaps leading to uncontrollable violent outbursts, outbursts that even his strong sense of morality couldn’t control. Bruce Wayne – Batman Personality Type Bruce Wayne seems mostly introverted, he lives a relatively solitary and private life. This could in part be explained by his traumatic past experiences. However, it’s likely to be a combination of both. He is high in trait conscientiousness, he works hard, and could even be described as obsessive. This applies to his business life as Bruce Wayne, and as the crime fighter, Batman. The fact that he essentially has a day and night job, suggests a very active, even obsessive, drive to do things, to work hard, and to be productive. Low in trait neuroticism, this is needed for both his occupations. Being a highly pressured businessman, making decisions under pressure with a great deal of responsibility requires a strong nerve. This strong nerve will be needed even more when he becomes the Dark Knight, and when his life is in danger. Being flustered by nerves and anxiety would greatly hinder his crime-fighting activities. There is also a possibility that his traumatic childhood experience caused his emotions to become repressed by his unconscious. This would be a defence mechanism he was not consciously aware of. This may result in certain sociopathic or psychopathic traits, meaning he doesn’t have the same fear that the majority have. Most successful and wealthy people are competitively minded. They also tend to be higher in aggression, more assertive, and less likely to avoid confrontation, perhaps to even seek it out. These traits are more associated with being low in agreeableness….
